Camp U Leadership
Game Gear is dedicated to making our local community a better place. This begins with our youth, and it is with dedication to our youth that Game Gear has joined forces with the Camp U Leadership Organization. Getting our kids involved in leadership roles, sports and the community builds character which will help them to succeed. This is achievable through Camp U's Seven Canons of Leadership: Attitude, Work Ethic, Education, Time Management, Teamwork, Communication and Integrity.
The Camp U Leadership Event was held March 11-12, 2016 at Spanish Fork High School. Principals throughout the State nominated their top female and male student-athletes, many of whom are multi-sport athletes, on All-State teams or are State Champions and have or are near 4.0 grade point averages. This camp brought these outstanding student-athletes together for networking, attending workshops, participating in competitions, and listening to speakers from every walk of life who have risen to success.
Game Gear’s CEO, Clayton Osborn, was asked to speak at this year's event on how his experience in sports, being part of a team, and even sitting on the bench prepared him to run a business and deal with various difficult situations throughout his life. “Riding the bench can give entrepreneurs the background to be relentless and continue working hard even if the results or fruits are not instantly there,” Osborn explained, “Success isn't instant, it’s learning how to outwork the competition and be more passionate when things are going well, but still doing those things when it appears hopeless.”
Even though Osborn’s athletic career came to an end, his competitive drive took Game Gear to where we are today and we hope to help the kids of our community find that same drive to lead them to success and happiness.
